Manchester United have reportedly opened talks on Tuesday to sign Patrick Dorgu, with Lecce valuing him at €40m (£33.8m).

United’s representatives were in Italy today to hold talks with Napoli over Alejandro Garnacho. But have also held talks with Lecce over bringing Dorgu back to England. While United have yet

to make a formal offer, they are prepared to pay €30m plus €5m in add-ons for Dorgu.

However, Lecce have priced the 20-year-old at €40m, with Napoli also understood to be interested in the player.

United are yet to make their first signing of the January transfer window. But there is still plenty of time for that to change. The Reds have until February 3 to complete their transfer business, and based on the latest rumours it could be a busy end to the window.

Napoli are keen to secure Dorgu as a pre-season offer. And will allow him to stay at Lecce on loan until the end of the season in a bid to help them avoid relegation.

The 20-year-old can play on either side of the defence or attack, and has scored three goals and provided one assist in 20 Serie A appearances.
